The Effect of Cigarette Smoking Duration on Hemoglobin Level Measured with Cyanmethemoglobin Method

In Indonesia, cigarette consumption is quite prevalent and has been become more common over time. According to Riskesdas (Baseline Health Research from Agency of Development) study in 2018, the national percentage people aged who smoke increased 2016-2018, namely 3.39% 2016, 3.9% 2017 9.65% 2018. Smoking habits will negatively affect human health. Cigarette contains various different chemicals that are harmful health, including nicotine addiction, tar (carcinogen or cancer-causing), carbon monoxide. When inhaled, they form carboxyhemoglobin with Hb (Hemoglobin). this occurs, amount available for oxygen transport reduced. By way compensation, body produce red blood cells. The objective was determine hemoglobin levels smokers smoking durations 3 years, 4 years 5 years. This quasi-experimental. Determine readings using a photometer 5010 Cyanmethemoglobin method. Up 20 samples were analyzed SPSS version Anova analysis at 95% confidence level. results statistical showed p-value <0.05, which means there significant effect between variables vice versa. level comparison an average value 14.8, 14.53, 15.94. duration on examination 3,4 greatest being impact levels.
